Heat Stress in Competition Environments
Exercise induced heat exhaustion is a problem for humans and horses in competition when high heat and humidity compromise evaporative cooling. RDA designed and executed field studies of aggressive cooling. Compared to the control group using traditional methods, aggressive cooling accomplished significantly increased rapid cooling and decrease in body temperature. This work has led to ongoing research in horses and humans on core temperature in competition and effective cooling.
